In the laptop comparison series today, we’ve brought another two powerful gaming laptops the Lenovo Legion 5 vs Acer Nitro 5. These two laptops are among the most famous gaming laptops in the market right now.
The fundamental reason behind the launch of the Legion series was gaming. As gaming also got popular in laptops, Lenovo launched the legion series laptops. And the Lenovo Legion 5 is one of the most sold gaming laptops of Lenovo.
On the other hand, other laptop manufacturers also took the same steps, and Acer, which belongs to a Taiwanese company initiated the Nitro Series laptops, which is one of the toughest counterparts of the Lenovo legion series laptops.
Even though the Acer Nitro series doesn’t have many varieties, the laptops launched in the Nitro series can compete with any other laptops in the market.
Therefore, today, we thought about launching a fight between these two series, and let’s check which one is better and if you’re looking for a laptop, especially for gaming. Which one suits you the best?
So, again not taking much time, let’s start discussing the pros and cons of both laptops, and depending upon the attributes of both laptops, we can say our final verdicts.

Lenovo Legion 5 versus Acer Nitro 5 – Which one is the best:
Look and Design:
Apparently, both the laptops seem extraordinary the color of both laptops is dull black, with a stunning logo on the backside. However, I love the Lenovo Legion logo which is printed on the side rather than the middle of the cover.
The Acer Nitro 5 comes with a red-backlit keyboard, which increases the impression of the laptop and makes it more gaming hungry. And other the other sides, the Lenovo laptop comes with a rainbow backlit keyboard, which is also customizable.
The overall screen build of the Lenovo seems better to me. Like the edged sides of the laptop, with the last limit of the screen resolution.
On the other hand, the Acer Nitro has somehow cut edge on the screen, which doesn’t add to the screen of the laptop.
By the way, the screen size of both the laptops are same. Both laptops come with a 15.6″ screen.
But the Acer Nitro has an IPS Full HD screen. And the Lenovo Legion 5 comes without IPS capability.
Moreover, talking about the thickness of the laptops, the Acer Nitro 5 seems more sleek and thin, even though there isn’t much difference in weight, but the Acer Nitro 5 looks sleeker and designed in terms of thickness than the Legion 5.
Specifications and performance:
The most important attribute of a laptop. The performance, for sure. Both the Lenovo Legion 5 vs Acer Nitro 5 comes with some of the best processors and graphics capability in the market.
Acer Nitro comes with AMD 6 core Ryzan 5 processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card. Moreover, it also comes with a large variety of specs in terms of storage, RAM and processors, etc. But as default, the Nitro comes with the above performance features.
The Legion 5 also comes with a gaming processor of AMD Ryzan 7 processor and Nvidia GeForce GTX 3050Ti graphics card. Bear in mind the graphics card used in the Lenovo Legion 5 is much more powerful than the one used in the Acer Nitro 5.
And due to the big difference in graphics capability too, you might see a bigger difference between the price tag of both laptops, which we will discuss later.
Overall, in terms of specs, like processor, graphics card, RAM, storage especially the SSD, the cooling system, and battery life both the laptops come with more than 6 variants.
And the Acer Nitro 5 comes with more than a dozen variants, which makes it easier for users to pick their favorite variant.
In short in terms of performance, both laptops can play any video game seamlessly.
Screen and display:
Well, coming towards the display of the laptop. For me, the display is one of the most important features of laptops. Because most people don’t buy laptops due to their smaller displays, whereas Monitor gives us large displays with full HD capacity, laptops miss that important features.
But the good news is that the newer laptops come with more than enough display sizes. The Lenovo Legion 5 versus Acer Nitro 5 both come with a 15.6″ large full HD display, which might not be big as a monitor, but more than enough for any sort of purpose.
Moreover, there is not much difference in the building capacity of both laptops. I personally like the display of Legion 5. Because it seems that the display covers the entire monitor side.
But in Acer Nitro, I can see that there is a bigger unused area below the screen. And overall, the Legion 5 seems better in terms of display.
Price Comparison:
Now, for a student, or an unemployed person, the most important factor of the product is the price. Well, both the laptops, don’t come at a cheap price as anyone would expect with any typical laptop.
But still being a gaming laptop and having gaming attributes, both the laptops are not much overpriced. The Acer Nitro 5 with normal price ranges comes between $1000 and $1499. Which is the normal price as compared with other Acer series laptops.
The Lenovo Legion 5 doesn’t come with much variety. The Lenovo legion 5 with 32GB RAM and 2TB of SSD storage comes at an overwhelming price of $1429, which might not be expected for some. But comparing the price and the specs, Lenovo could be much cheaper than that.
There is I should say expectation from Lenovo buyers that its laptops are comparatively less expensive than its counterparts.
But I think the less difference in price between Nitro Acer 5 vs Lenovo Legion 5 is the graphics card.
The graphics used in the Lenovo Legion 5 is the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050Ti, which is one of the most powerful graphics options for gaming.
Therefore, in terms of the price range, I would say that the Lenovo Legion 5 comes with much better equipment than Acer Nitro in this price range.
Additional Attributes:
So the above ones were some of the important attributes that we should think about in a laptop. But there are still some other smaller things that we need to check in a laptop in order to find the real capability of the product.
After comparing these specs, another important spec for me is the battery life. During video games, the machine used much more energy than the time when used in the office or for homework. Therefore, it’s very important for gaming laptops to come with stable battery life.
Both the manufacturers don’t reveal the complete battery capacity, but the Acer Nitro 5 claims to have 9 hours of battery backup timing which for sure depends on the usage of the laptop.
But upon checking personally, as we expected the Lenovo Legion 5 laptop consumes more energy than the Nitro 5. Because it comes with more powerful equipment.
But I think for gaming, I would say that there is not much difference in battery life. Because, upon normal use, the Lenovo Legion also gives more than 9 hours of battery backup timing.

Final Verdict:
There is no doubt that both laptops come with some of the best gaming features and specifications. Additionally, there are also some things that are missing in one laptop and which are in their best form in other laptops.
The best thing I like about the Acer Nitro is its physical appearance, because, it seems more sleek and thin.
On the other hand, the Lenovo Legion 5 comes with two extraordinary features which are very important for gaming machines.
Firstly, It comes with a very powerful graphics card. Which makes it able to run any graphics-intensive software or video game.
Secondly, the Legion 5 comes with a 165Hz of refresh rate for display, which creates an overall edge for the Lenovo Legion. With this refresh rate, I guarantee the you’ll experience next-level gaming on the laptop.
And talking about the Acer Nitro 5, it comes with a normal 65Hz refresh rate, which is not bad, but exactly way more behind than the Legion 5.
Therefore, when it comes to gaming, and I would need to prefer only one of these laptops, I would prefer the Lenovo Legion 5 first based on the above two characteristics.
But it doesn’t mean that the Acer Nitro is out of the battle. It also has some edge, which particular people like. For example, the design of the Acer Nitro seems attractive to some people therefore, they prefer Acer Nitro too.
