Why Is ThinkPad Popular Among Business persons, And Professionals

Why ThinkPad is so popular

No doubt, Lenovo is the world’s leading laptop manufacturer that sells millions of laptops every year. According to the latest data from International Data Corporation IDC, in 2021, Lenovo Ltd sold more than 3 million new laptop computers, which means that the firm currently captures 25% of the laptop market in the world.

After being founded in 1984, It took it more than thirty-seven years to become the world’s top laptop manufacturer. Three continents are the biggest markets for Lenovo laptops naming Asia, Europe, and Africa. Lenovo Inc sells more than 70% of its laptops and other digital devices in these three continents, including the Lenovo ThinkPad, which is the most successful and popular laptop series.

You might wonder, how Lenovo reached this stage today. Behind this success, there was a hard struggle for years. One of the biggest reasons that allowed Lenovo to capture the market and become the Apple of Windows laptops is the two series that changed the fate of the company completely.

The two series that changed Lenovo’s fate were the IdeaPad and the ThinkPad series. Among these two the ThinkPad is the most popular among business persons.

Currently, Lenovo ThinkPad is the most popular among business persons, students, and professionals. Today our main goal is the understand why is ThinkPad so popular in the business industry.

After the shocking success and popularity of the ThinkPad, Lenovo started to introduce its further models that include ThinkPad Series X, X1, P, T, L, E, 11e, A, and 2 in 1 series.

Every model ThinkPad is specially created for a particular use.

For example, the ThinkPad 2-in-1 laptop is the best laptop for college students, businessmen, and professionals, who need powerful laptops with extraordinary features, and long battery life for everyday continuous use at home, office, and among friends.

Below, we’ve listed some of the features of ThinkPad series laptops that will help you decide why is ThinkPad so popular among everyone.

Why is ThinkPad so popular?

One of the leading producers of personal computers is Lenovo (formerly Legend). They produce a vast line of notebook and desktop computers, Tablet PCs, servers, and workstations. One product that they are known for producing is a line of laptops called the “ThinkPad”.

The first ThinkPad was released in 1992 as a business-centered machine with a high build quality to ensure maximum lifecycle. Since then, it has become one of the most respected lines of laptops out today with models aimed at every market segment from entry-level to expert-level users.

And please remember that in this article, we’re talking about any particular ThinkPad, instead, we’ve researched and listed down all the features and specs that outclass the ThinkPad series laptops.

1: Relentless Innovation:

The first thing you notice when you lay eyes on the ThinkPad series laptops is that it has a very clean and sleek appearance. The lid is made of two types of plastic, matte to resist fingerprints and shiny to provide an elegant look.

There are no stickers or company logos other than a small ThinkPad logo in the lower right corner which is tastefully done. I believe this makes for a cleaner-looking laptop when compared to many other laptops manufactured today.

You can see plenty of pictures online if you want to see what it looks like but be warned some show the fingerprint-resistant coating as accenting green (it’s actually black).

One negative aspect of having such a clean-looking laptop would be that those who value mobile customization would not be able to add stickers or pictures of the laptop without looking out of place.

But, I personally like the clean and simple appearance of the ThinkPad, and it is also of the reasons that make ThinkPad so popular among business persons.

2: Stunning Appearance and Feel:

When compared with most laptops, the ThinkPad series is very thin and light which makes it easy to carry around.

At 1.5 inches (3.9 cm) thick and weighing only 2.5 to 3 lbs, these notebooks provide a good balance between size and performance making them perfect for transporting from place to place or for people that like having a smaller screen.

But still, need high specifications such as yourself if you’re reading this article (hahaha). It’s also stylish enough to not look out of place even in an office so business people can rest assured when buying these.

In my opinion, the ThinkPads ranks second when compared with other laptops in terms of how it feels to you, the user. It’s not as sturdy-feeling nor does it have that professional look and feel that the MacBooks have, but Lenovo did well by providing a device that can meet most people’s needs.

I’ve measured this notebook up for thickness and weight but there is more to it than just how thick or heavy it is. When I purchased this laptop, I asked myself if I could work on this laptop all day without getting tired of using it or having discomfort problems such as cuts on my hands due to sharp edges (this has happened to me before).

Well after working with the ThinkPad laptops for several weeks now, I can say that even though the different ports are placed in a position that could cut your hands if you hold it by the side, it doesn’t cause discomfort for me.

I say this because there are many different types of people that will be using this laptop so Lenovo had to account for the widest range of users possible when making decisions on where to place parts.

3: Beast in Performance:

Performance is one of the primary things that help the user to test the true potential of any system. And we all know that currently, Lenovo produces the fastest laptop computers in the world.

For example, The Lenovo ThinkPad X1, which is a convertible laptop, and also one of the world’s slimmest and lightest laptops in the world comes with the latest 11th Gen core i5 processor.

Moreover, it comes with gaming Graphics, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, along with 512GB of SSD for storage. Which enables the user to run almost any sort of heavy application and games on the laptop without any hassle.

And the news is that in the year 2022, Lenovo is going to take the next step towards the 12th Gen processor, which will be first installed on Lenovo laptops only.

4: The fastest TrackPoint and TouchPad:

If you’re reading this article then chances are you know what I’m talking about when I talk about these two pointing devices but for those who don’t here’s a brief explanation.

And why is ThinkPad popular, one reason is the TrackPoint (also known as Pointing Stick) allows you to control your cursor without moving your hand away from the keyboard. If your ThinkPad comes with one then all you need to do is press the center of it to activate it.

If you don’t like TrackPoint or are used to using a touchpad then the ThinkPads have you covered with a nice-sized touchpad that measures 3.9 x 2.4 inches (10 x 6 cm).

5: Extra Ordinary Battery Backup:

Lenovo ThinkPad

The ThinkPad series laptops come with a 4-cell to 8-cell Lithium-Ion battery rated at 8400 mAh which according to Lenovo gives those notebooks up to 14 hours of battery life in standard usage tests and up to 10 hours when watching movies, on average.

This rating is very close but not exactly what I’m getting with my user testing though still good enough for anybody who needs a laptop for school, works, or travels without having to worry about finding an outlet all the time.

In my experience, you should be able to get about 12 hours of battery life using this laptop for standard web browsing and office-like applications which is what the average user will be doing as well as watching movies or listening to music with no problem.

In fact, if I didn’t know that Lenovo claimed up to 14 hours of battery life for ThinkPad laptops then I wouldn’t have guessed it based on my real-world usage tests.

6: Proprietary Connectors and Ports:

The ThinkPad laptops have plenty of ports to go around whether your needs are for a desktop replacement notebook or an ultraportable because let’s face it there is no such thing as too many ports.

The right side houses the modem, ExpressCard/54 slot, Firewire IEEE 1394a port, two USB 2.0 ports, and a headphone-out jack while the left side holds a Smart Card reader, 4-pin iLink DV serial port, VGA monitor out port, and LAN (RJ-45) port along with an ExpressCard/34 slot and security cable slot.

On the front edge of this notebook, there is a 5-in-1 Multiformat card reader (SD, MMC, MS, MS Pro & xD) along with two LEDs for power and hard drive activity. The rear edge holds nothing but the modular bay battery release latch and ThinkPad battery.

Lenovo incorporates both legacy ports as well as modern ones into this laptop so there should be no issues trying to find a peripheral device that will work with it whether it’s for business or pleasure.

This is a welcomed feature in my opinion because you just never know when you’re going to need it and having the option to use them gives you added flexibility in your day-to-day PC usage.

7: Competitive Price:

We already know that Chinese products are sold worldwide for their price is highly affordable. In the past due to this low price, these products used to be low quality.

But now everything has changed. If you want the world’s best products in performance, with the lowest price, no doubt that China will the only country that manufactures such products.

Talk a look at the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga X3, one of my favorites. It comes with the latest core i7 11th Gen processor, along with  WQXGA (2560 x 1600) Touch, Anti-reflection Anti-smudge (ARAS) coating, 400 nits, 100% sRGB, 32GB LPDDR4x, 1TB SSD, and only 2.65 pounds of weight, fully convertible and ultrathin body.

How much do you think will be worth?

Taking other brands into consideration, you might calculate something more than three grand. But this laptop comes under two thousand dollars, which clearly shows how much Lenovo laptops are competitive and that no other brand can stand against these in terms of the price range.

Expert’s Thoughts:

The Lenovo ThinkPad T400s is a great notebook for business and personal use whether you need to get work done on the go, use it as a desktop replacement, or just want something ultraportable that won’t break your back when carrying it from place to place.

This isn’t going to win any awards for having an innovative design but don’t let that deter you from one of the best laptops I’ve used in quite some time.

In fact, the ThinkPad series laptops will turn heads because it’s black all over with no fancy colors or markings which makes it look very conservative and professional while at the same time exuding a durable and rugged design.

The build quality of this notebook is unmatched in my opinion and the hinges for the LCD display remain tight even when adjusting it from one viewing position to another.

The performance is outclassed by its advancing processors, RAM, And SSDs. These laptops are also the second most stylish laptops in the market just behind Apple MacBooks.

In short, after reading about these specialties of the laptop, we can easily understand why is ThinkPad so popular right now!
